Dyslexia Scotland North East is a volunteer led branch of Dyslexia Scotland. The role of the branch is to raise awareness and understanding of dyslexia by holding monthly meetings (term time only) which anyone with an interest is welcome to attend. At the meetings there is often a speaker on a topic related to dyslexia for the adults and the Youth Group meets at the same time. The committee meets around 5 times a year in order to plan their open meetings and discuss branch business.
The majority of people who attend our meetings are parents of children with dyslexia, adults with dyslexia and professionals such as teachers.
The branch is looking for a Treasurer to:
- Keep a basic record of branch accounts
- Send an annual statement of accounts to Dyslexia Scotland
- Prepare an annual statement of accounts for the branch AGM
Accountancy experience is not needed for this role as tasks are relatively straightforward. As with all roles, training and support from Head Office is available. The Treasurer does not necessarily need to have an interest or knowledge of dyslexia, although of course this would be beneficial.
The committee is informal and friendly and would very much welcome any offers of help. For further details please contact Lena Gillies (National Development Officer) on Email: Lena@dyslexiascotland.org.uk or tel: 01786 446650.
