Advocacy Service Aberdeen | Advocacy Volunteers

*Do you enjoy meeting people?
*Are you a good listener?
*Are you interested in becoming an Advocacy Volunteer?

Advocacy Volunteers help people speak up for themselves and make their views heard. Sometimes people need support expressing what they want to say and having their point of view taken seriously. Advocates are there to be on someone’s side. They can help people to access information, to understand their rights, to explore options and to express their views and wishes.

We provide an independent, confidential and free Advocacy Service. All of our client meetings/appointments usually take place on Monday – Friday, between 9:00 -5:00pm. There is an expectation that Advocacy Volunteers will take on 1-2 clients. The frequencies of meetings vary from case to case and a client may have several meetings or appointments in the same week and then may not have any meetings or appointments for 3-4 weeks.

Full training and excellent support is provided to all volunteers. The next volunteer training course starts November 2018(1 day a week for 5 weeks). Lunch and refreshments provided.
