Your People – Aberdeen Harbour Board

Aberdeen Harbour Board prides itself on being part of the community, not just through the donation of funds to charities and groups in the region through its Community Action Fund, but by contributing time as well.

The harbour has supported Big Noise Torry, a charity which gives free music tuition to all nursery, P1 and P2 children from Walker Road and Tullos primary schools, as well as children who live in Torry but attend school elsewhere, through the Community Action Fund for several years.

And this summer, Glen McIntyre and Gordon Kellas from Aberdeen Harbour’s Engineering Maintenance Department added to this support, when they helped Big Noise Torry move from Torry Academy to its new base on Victoria Road, where it will be based while the Torry Academy site is redeveloped.

Glen and Gordon helped move bulky items like furniture that the charity was struggling to move itself.

Chris Bain, external relations director at Aberdeen Harbour Board, said: “As a Trust Port, we take our commitment to the community seriously and we were delighted that we could help Big Noise Torry with this move to ensure the transition to their new premises was as easy and possible and help them continue their great work with children in the area.”
