Pet Fostering Service Scotland | Area Organisers

*Are you passionate about animal welfare?  Would you like to play a vital role in supporting owners and pets in your local area who are facing an emergency situation? *

Pet Fostering Service Scotland (PFSS) provides short-term, emergency foster care for pets whose owners are facing one of the following situations:

*Ill health
*Temporary homelessness
*Domestic abuse

Our Area Organisers play a key role in delivery of our service by arranging pet fostering in the area they cover.  Area Organisers receive telephone requests for fostering, asses these for suitability and arrange placement of the pet(s) with local pet fosterers.  Other tasks include:

*Coordinate collection and transport of the pet. *Monitor financing of the pet’s food and vet care costs. *Keep up-to-date records of each fostering. *Keep in contact with and support pet fosterers in your area. *Promote PFSS and help recruit foster carers in your area. *Build relationships with local social work departments, vets and other agencies.

This role is home-based and is predominantly carried out via telephone and email.  Number of hours each week is variable (depending on the number of fostering requests received) but can be flexible to fit around your other commitments.  It is preferable but not essential that you are at home for part of the day and therefore not in full time employment.  Our phone system operates from 9am to 7pm daily, however you are not expected to be available to answer every call.  We encourage use of an answering machine and this can be provided.

If you are an animal lover who wants to develop new skills and be part of a team making a difference to pets and owners across Scotland then we’d love to hear from you!
