Social Suppers Volunteers | Social Bite (Aberdeen)

Social Bite is a sandwich shop with a difference. We distribute over 140,000 items of food and hot drinks every year to Scotland’s homeless and most vulnerable people.

We currently have important and excellent volunteer opportunities to assist at Social Bites’ Social Suppers which provide regular hot meals and support locally to people affected by homelessness. Tasks include: >Volunteering with Social Bite shop staff to prepare the shop and get food and drink set up for each session. >Welcoming our customers affected by homelessness and/or in need of support to the shop. Being a friendly face and talking to people about how they are doing. >Passing on information to people about how they can access services provided by our partner charities e.g. housing/benefits advice, courses, drug/alcohol support. >Cleaning and tidying up at the end of the evening.

The Social Suppers take place at Social Bite on Union Street, Aberdeen on Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays from 3.30pm-6.00pm. Good support and training is provided to all volunteers including: > A training evening, where you will be shown how we run the sessions plus information about the local services that our homeless visitors can access. > Attend a taster session and see if you enjoy volunteering. >One to one support from a designated staff member as and when you need it. It is also a great opportunity to be >Part of a fun and friendly team of staff and volunteers. >Satisfaction from making our Suppers happen and from seeing homeless people benefit from the food and support we provide. >The chance to develop skills and experience in charity/a leading social enterprise/community work and catering.

All help makes a difference for homeless people we support and is greatly appreciated. For further details please contact Tracey Guthrie on  .
