Food Store / Community Café Volunteers | Tillydrone Community Campus

Tillydrone Community Campus is a new £6million facility that opened in late August 2019. The facility has many opportunities for the community to engage with in developing it as centre that Tillydrone can be proud of. This can be in participating or organising groups / activities, accessing the library, Food Store or using the Café. We are looking for volunteers to assist in the following opportunities:

>Food Store: To help the Lighthouse group in operating the Food Store which consists of two main tasks; engage with customers and filling food bags. The engagement part is crucial in building up a relationship which leads to further discussions with a view to exploring what else might be going on in the individual’s life. Whilst the position might not be able to directly influence what else is going on in someone’s life it is an opportunity to sign post and support. Opening Hours just now are for a couple of hours on a Monday afternoon; however it is anticipated that this will extend to three afternoons during the week.

>Community Café: Helping the cook in charge of the café. This will involve; food prep, customer care, serving, operating a till and coffee machine, clearing tables and helping wipe down the kitchen at the end. Whilst volunteering you will be directed by the cook on charge with myself and a colleague having overall responsibility for the volunteers in the Campus (the café is currently open Monday-Friday and people can volunteer any of these days/times).  The interaction between those coming into the Campus and the Café cannot be overstated as this is one of the first interactions, they will have on entering the building. It is an opportunity to present the Campus in a positive welcoming light.

We offer an induction, regular meetings (to assist in developing the opportunity and provision) and all the training that you might need for the opportunity to be fulfilling for you.

A fantastic opportunity to help at the Tillydrone Community Campus. All help is greatly appreciated. For more information about these or any other ways you can get involved  please contact Graham Donald, Community Development Worker at E Mail: or telephone: 01224 522192 / 07917 305803.
