About this opportunity

Aberdeen City Fencing Club is a friendly recreational club, founded in 2006. We cater for all levels and have some fantastic coaches who volunteer their time to promote our sport within Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire.

Aberdeen City Fencing Club is the centre for the sport of fencing in the North East of Scotland. We consist of a highly dedicated committee, that is passionate about introducing people to fencing and helping them excel in a unique and wonderfully fun sport.

We are an inclusive and friendly sports club that meets twice a week at Robert Gordons College. We train from 6pm till 8:30pm on those nights.

We are fully registered with Scottish Fencing and British Fencing.

Aberdeen City Fencing Club are looking for social media savvy volunteers to create/maintain social media platform(s) with a view to increasing club presence and membership. As a niche sport, balancing small club membership with fixed facility costs and a need to maintain quality (and quantity) of equipment, targeting the right type and number of members is essential. Our small committee is stretched with the general running of the club and so we feel we aren't leveraging our full potential through social media presence. Volunteers should be able to assist us with content and scheduling related to regular social media platforms (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, TikTok etc.), ensuring that we have a strong and consistent online presence. We have a set in place aesthetic that we will share and develop alongside the volunteer. It is envisaged that the volunteer would become a vital member of the club allowing us to influence the right number of people at the right time to level club demographics, driving diversity and inclusion across our sport in Aberdeen.

The club meets twice weekly at Robert Gordons College's sports hall, but it is expected that the opportunity can be worked from home on an ad-hoc/as required basis - as agreed by volunteer and organisation committee. That being said, we would very much like the volunteer to be an important, close member of our group and they would be welcome to join us, or visit, as often as they choose.

As a volunteer led club, we will offer an introduction to the club and the sport of fencing, as well as an overview of what we require to help boost the club. Our committee is consistently available for support when it is required and can answer any questions the volunteer has. We can also assist with providing content such as images, videos and information.

A fantastic opportunity to help. All volunteers make a real difference and are greatly appreciated. For more details please contact Jamie Hyde at email jamiehyde114@gmail.com
