About this opportunity

Join Cancer Research UK's Race for Life Aberdeen volunteer team! The spectacular Cancer Research UK Aberdeen Race for Life takes place on Sunday 28th June 2026.

We have a variety of great volunteer roles to support the event and the vital work of Cancer Research UK. Roles available include:

-Finish Volunteers: will help to welcome back our participants at the end of their race, clapping them in, providing the medal and water & keeping the finish area looking tidy & stocked up.

-Course Marshal Volunteers: is one of the most important roles at Race For Life because they help to make our participant experience memorable and special. They are allocated a place along the route to provide general support, motivation and to ensure participants remain on the correct route. Suited to those who are confident and enthusiastic about giving our participants a fantastic experience.

-Pacer Volunteers: is someone who helps to set the pace for other runners. They will do this by wearing timed flag back packs (provided) & ensuring they stick to the right speed. We have 50, 60 and 70 minute flags and this role is only available for the 10k event. Suited to seasoned runners who are comfortable they can consistently run at their chosen speed.

-Cycle volunteers: will lead the fastest runners around the course route. Showing them the way, and keeping the route clear to give them a fantastic experience. They will report in their progress along the route to our Finish line team who will prepare for the arrival of the front runners. The course route will be provided in advance of the event and signage will be in place to follow. Suited to someone who has their own bike and is confident the lead the runners.

-Enquiries volunteers: will answer participant enquiries, issue new running numbers and process new entry using cash or online entries. They will take donations, sponsorship forms and log any Lost property. Suited to well organised individuals, confident in form completion and speaking to the public.

-And finally, Backmarker Volunteers: who will walk behind the last participants on the course to make sure all our participants get back safely and get an equally fantastic experience. Suited to someone who is able to walk the whole course (either 3k, 5k or 10k).

The event takes place on Sunday 28th June 2026, starting point / meeting location at Seaton Football Pitches, Seaton Road. Event uses Esplanade for course route. Event parking at Pittodrie Stadium, a short walk away. Drop off point on Seaton Road. Buses stop on Seaton Road, Aberdeen AB24 1XL.
