About this opportunity

About MISS:

We are a miscarriage support service - the only early pregnancy loss charity covering Scotland, based in Aberdeen.

We are seeking volunteers with e-commerce experience to help strengthen and grow our existing online sales channels, which are already established on Etsy and eBay.

What will you be doing?:

Review Current Performance:

  • Assess existing Etsy and eBay stores.
  • Analyse product range, listings, pricing, branding, and customer engagement.
  • Identify quick wins and longer-term growth opportunities.

Develop an E-commerce Growth Strategy:

  • Create a clear roadmap with achievable revenue and engagement goals.
  • Define target audiences and customer journeys.
  • Recommend priorities based on available volunteer and staff capacity.

Expand Product and Fundraising Opportunities:

  • Identify products that resonate with supporters and bereaved families.
  • Explore digital products, awareness merchandise, memorial items, fundraising packs, and seasonal campaigns
  • Evaluate opportunities for donated goods sales through eBay.

What difference will you make?:

A volunteer with e-commerce expertise can provide significant value by helping the charity turn its existing online sales channels into a more strategic and sustainable source of income.

Increased Unrestricted Income:

By improving performance on Etsy and eBay and identifying new sales opportunities, the role can help generate additional unrestricted funds that can be used where they are most needed across the charity's services and activities.

Better Use of Existing Resources:

The charity has already established online sales channels. This volunteer can help maximise the return on that existing investment by improving listings, processes, and marketing rather than requiring the charity to build new platforms from scratch.

Greater Awareness of the Charity:

Online marketplaces can introduce the charity to people who may not otherwise encounter its work. Improved visibility and branding can increase awareness of the charity's mission, services, and impact among wider audiences.

A Clear Growth Strategy:

Many charities operate e-commerce channels reactively. This role would help develop a structured plan with clear objectives, priorities, and measures of success, enabling the organisation to make informed decisions and focus efforts where they will have the greatest impact.

Diversified Fundraising:

Expanding online retail activity can reduce reliance on a single source of funding by creating an additional income stream through merchandise, donated goods, awareness products, and seasonal campaigns.

We are based in Aberdeen, however, this opportunity can be remote so no travel is necessary.

All volunteers are given induction training about MISS as a charity when they first begin. We are a very friendly and caring team and so the volunteer will be fully supported throughout.
