About this opportunity

Our volunteers are an essential part of the award winning Nuart Festival here in Aberdeen, which takes place between 22-26 April 2026 (with flexible times available to volunteer from with the set up of the Festival from 13th April onwards to during the Festival itself which takes place from 22-26 April 2026 and assisting in the close of the Festival Hub/production breakdown on 27th April 2026). Without our family of volunteers, Nuart would not be the success it is!

We create dynamic schedules for our volunteers so they can try their hand at more than one role and get a well-rounded experience at the festival. We never leave volunteers on their own, we always ensure pairs or more! So you will be meeting new acquaintances throughout! Our Volunteers form https://forms.gle/CFsfP6V6GSLb9r8G8 is just for us to understand any interests and allow potential volunteers to express areas they’d like to volunteer and gain experience in but our main areas are;

*Artist assistants: Our artists tend to create large works of art and will need a helping hand. This could include anything from working directly with the artist to paint their mural, helping set up their supplies and get them tools. It may also involve speaking with the public during production who may be curious as to what is going on - letting them know what is happening and being safe and informing them about other events during the festival (handing out information leaflets). This is a multi-faceted role, where having a creative bone in your body is helpful, but not essential.

*Drivers: Artists and crew may need to be driven and collected from sites around town, including to the airport and back. Volunteers would need a driver’s license, valid insurance and access to your own vehicle? Drivers are very important to us, as we are guests in your city and need a hand with knowing the best routes!

*Events assistants: There will be a variety of events including artist talks, panel debates, tours & workshops running throughout the festival and we are looking for enthusiastic people to help with the smooth running of these. This may involve meeting and greeting artists and participants, helping set up and clear up after events, stewarding or working directly with artists. This is a role for people and have good communication skills.

*Production Crew Volunteers: Assisting artists and producers with the production of artwork on the street. This includes a huge amount of variety, and you will get a hands-on understanding of what it takes to work in production. Every production like ours needs a good "egg" that can help with different tasks. These roles can require lifting and carrying.

*Project Assistants: Help us with some of the many and varied tasks in lead up to the production and festival weekend - in particular for 2026 we'll need support with our schools project submissions, along with helping with marketing the event, getting the word out there and lots of other bits and pieces!
