About this opportunity

The Pride in Place Programme is the UK Government’s flagship communities programme which empowers local people to shape the future of their neighbourhood. Aberdeen City’s “North Locality, Priority Neighbourhoods: Middlefield and Heathryfold; Cummings Park; Northfield; and Mastrick” have been selected to receive up to £20 million over the next 10 years.

At the heart of this work will be a new Neighbourhood Board, led by an independent Chair and supported by passionate local Board Members. Together, they will decide how to invest long term funding in projects that strengthen community cohesion, revitalise shared spaces, enhance local amenities, and ensure residents have a real voice in shaping their neighbourhood’s future.

The Chairperson will be someone who can bring communities together to share their ideas in an open and collaborative way. The Chair’s primary role is to be a champion for their place and to embody the community-led spirit of the programme. The Chairperson should be someone who holds a prominent role in the community and has a passion for the place, whilst giving due consideration to the length of tenure, noting the importance of consistency and the long-term nature of the programme.

Board Members help speak up for the community and make sure local voices shape all decisions. They work with the Chair, Aberdeen City Council and the local MP to guide the programme, share local knowledge and ensure the work is fair, inclusive and based on real community experience.

The opportunity would be based in Aberdeen City’s “North Locality, Priority Neighbourhoods: Middlefield and Heathryfold; Cummings Park; Northfield; and Mastrick.

The Board needs at least eight members, and a minimum of 51% must live or work in the neighbourhood so it stays led by local residents.

A webinar is being held on the 25th February at 1:00-2:00pm. For more information please see - Eventbrite: Pride in Place (PiP) - Information Webinar
