About this opportunity
About TAMS
TAMS (The Allotment Market Stall) helps local allotment holders share their surplus produce with the community. We collect and sell fresh, local fruit and vegetables at affordable prices, reducing food waste and celebrating community growing. You can find out more at www.tamstheallotmentmarketstall.org.uk
About the Role
We’re looking for a friendly person to help us stay in touch with allotment sites and build connections with the people and groups that make TAMS what it is.
You don’t need to do everything on the list – we’re happy to chat about what you enjoy and what fits your time and interests. You’ll be part of a supportive volunteer committee who meet roughly every six weeks.
What You Might Do
Here are some examples of how you could help – we’ll tailor things to you:
• Keep in touch with one or more allotment sites – pop by now and then, or stay in touch by email or WhatsApp for instance.
• Encourage allotment holders to take part in TAMS activities – like donating produce, helping at stalls, or joining collections.
• Represent TAMS at allotment or community events – spreading the word about what we do.
• Help us connect with other local groups and build friendly partnerships.
• Come along to our committee meetings (every 6 weeks or so) to share updates and ideas.
Everything is flexible – we’ll chat about what feels right for you!
Who We’re Looking For
You don’t need any special qualifications – just enthusiasm and a friendly approach. This role could suit someone who:
• Enjoys chatting with people and making connections
• Likes being part of a community project
• Is organised and reliable, but also happy to go with the flow
• Cares about local food, growing, or reducing waste
• Can give a small but regular amount of time (we’ll agree what works for you)
What You’ll Get
• A warm welcome from a small, friendly team of volunteers
• The chance to help your community and support local growing
• Opportunities to meet new people and build local links
• Experience in community engagement and teamwork
• Support and guidance from the committee and other volunteers
Interested?
We’d love to have a chat!
