About this opportunity
Sunrise Partnership is a small, local charity providing free, confidential and therapeutic support to children and young people across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire who have experienced bereavement or significant loss. Our experienced practitioners offer tailored 1:1 and group support, helping young people navigate some of the most challenging moments in their lives.
To strengthen our Board and support our continued sustainability, we are inviting applications for the voluntary role of Treasurer.
About the Role
The Treasurer plays a key part in ensuring strong financial governance across the organisation. Working closely with the Board and our external bookkeeper, you will maintain oversight of the charity’s finances, contribute to strategic planning, and help ensure we continue delivering high quality support to those who need us.
Key aspects of the role include monitoring financial performance, supporting budget planning, and helping trustees understand financial information so they can make informed decisions. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to use their skills to make a meaningful difference in their local community.
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds. We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals with experience in:
-Accounting or financial management
-Budget monitoring or financial reporting
-Charity finance (beneficial but not essential)
-Presenting financial information clearly to non finance colleagues
We also warmly encourage applications from experienced bookkeepers, whose practical skills align well with the Treasurer role.
Additional skills such as fundraising, marketing, IT, administration, or wider third sector experience are also valued.
Board Commitment
-Attendance at 10 Board meetings per year, usually held in the evening in Aberdeen (in person preferred, with online participation available).
-Opportunities to take part in events, promotional activity and training.
-Reasonable travel expenses reimbursed.
-Our Treasurer will receive a thorough induction to ensure they feel confident and supported in the role. This includes an introduction to Sunrise Partnership’s work, policies and governance processes; a clear overview of our financial systems; and dedicated time with our Chair and trustees to review current accounts, reporting formats and upcoming priorities. Ongoing support, training opportunities and access to relevant resources will also be provided to help you succeed in the role.
Why Join Us?
Becoming a trustee with Sunrise Partnership is a rewarding way to support children and young people at moments when they need compassion, stability and understanding. You will join a friendly and supportive Board made up of people from diverse backgrounds, all committed to helping the charity thrive.
Your expertise will help ensure we remain financially sustainable and able to provide vital support across the region.
If you want to use your skills to make a genuine difference, we’d love to hear from you!
