About this opportunity
VSA is a leading charity with a proud 155-year history of supporting vulnerable children and adults across the north-east of Scotland. At VSA, our mission is to deliver the best of care so that people can live the best of lives. From residential services and mental health support to education and community outreach, our portfolio of care touches the lives of thousands every year.
As part of our exciting transformation programme, we’re proud to be developing Easter Anguston Farm into a truly unique community destination – by the community, with the community, for the community.
Nestled within 90 acres of stunning countryside, this heritage site has already benefited from over £500,000 of investment, including the development of state-of-the-art children’s play areas, improved visitor amenities, and a beautiful café. Now we’re inviting people like you – people who are community-minded, nature-loving, people-friendly and commercially aware – to join us in bringing the farm to life for visitors of all ages.
Easter Anguston Farm is not just a place to visit – it’s a place to connect, to recharge, and to contribute to something truly special. We’re creating a safe, welcoming space where families, individuals, and groups can come together and experience the therapeutic power of nature, animals, and shared community activity – in all weathers, all year round.
To make this vision a reality, we’re looking for a team of dedicated volunteers to support key areas of the farm experience. Whether you’re a great communicator, love animals, enjoy meeting people or have a head for retail – there’s a role for you.
*Volunteer Opportunities at Easter Anguston Farm
We are currently recruiting for the following rota-based volunteer roles – we expect around 5–8 volunteers per role, working on rotation to ensure a consistent, quality experience for every visitor:
-Farm Welcome Volunteers
Be the first friendly face our visitors meet! Based in the Welcome Hut, you’ll greet guests, hand out maps, provide information about the farm and VSA’s work, and set the tone for a great visit.
-Farm Shop Volunteers
Help run our on-site shop alongside VSA staff, restocking products, processing payments, and providing a helpful, welcoming retail experience for visitors.
-Strawberry Picking Volunteers
Support visitors as they pick their own strawberries – helping with guidance, answering questions, and ensuring everyone enjoys a fun, safe experience.
-Animal Engagement Volunteers
While visitors can’t touch the animals, you’ll help them get to know our animals by name, share fun facts, and explain how our animals play a role in wellbeing and our therapeutic training programmes.
-Volunteer Rangers
Be our ambassadors on the move! As a ranger, you’ll wander the site offering help, directions, and friendly conversation, keeping a watchful eye to ensure everyone is safe and happy during their visit.
These roles are an excellent opportunity to gain experience, give back to your community, and be part of something meaningful – all while enjoying the fresh air and beauty of our farm.
Whether you can give a few hours a week or more, we’d love to hear from you. We’ll provide any training you need, and you’ll be joining a supportive, fun and values-led team.
If you are interested in applying or finding out more, please contact Lynne Clark at email: lynne.clark@vsa.org.uk She will be happy to talk through what’s involved and help find the right volunteer role for you.
Thank you again for your interest in supporting VSA. We look forward to welcoming you to Easter Anguston Farm.
