About

The National Literacy Trust is an independent UK charity working to empower children, young people and adults with the literacy skills they need to succeed in life. Through partnerships with schools, libraries, community organisations and businesses, the charity delivers programmes and campaigns that inspire reading, writing and communication, helping to tackle literacy inequalities and create opportunities for people across the UK. Together with communities, supporters and volunteers, the National Literacy Trust is helping people change their stories through the power of literacy.

Volunteers play an important role in supporting the charity's mission. As Literacy Champions, volunteers help promote reading and literacy within their communities, support local activities and events, share resources and encourage others to develop their confidence and skills. By giving their time and enthusiasm, volunteers help create positive opportunities for people of all ages to engage with literacy and learning.
