SAMH (Scottish Action for Mental Health) is Scotland’s national mental health charity. For over 100 years, SAMH has been here for Scotland’s mental health, supporting people in communities across the country and working towards a society where everyone can live their lives fully, regardless of their mental health.
Each year, 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem. Through a wide range of community-based services, SAMH provides vital mental health and social care support, helping people to build resilience, maintain their wellbeing and live as independently as possible.
Volunteers play a key role in making this work possible. By giving their time, skills and experience, volunteers support SAMH’s services, strengthen local communities and help ensure that more people can access the support they need. Volunteering with SAMH offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference, connect with others and contribute to improving mental health across Scotland.
Alongside its services, SAMH campaigns to tackle stigma and discrimination, influence policy, and raise awareness and understanding of mental health. Through volunteering, individuals can be part of this wider movement for change and help create a future where mental health is valued and supported.

The Nook in Aberdeen will open its doors this summer, and we need your help. The Nook in Aberdeen offers free, drop-in mental health and wellbeing support seven days a week - without the need for an appointment or referral. A safe, stigma-free space where anyone can visit to speak about mental health.
