The Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA) is Scotland’s leading animal welfare charity, dedicated to protecting and improving the lives of animals across the country. Founded in 1839, the SSPCA has nearly two centuries of experience rescuing animals in need and promoting kindness and compassion in how people treat all creatures from pets to wildlife to farmed animals.
The SSPCA works tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate and, where appropriate, rehome animals that are injured, neglected or at risk. It also supports owners who are struggling through initiatives such as veterinary care help, education programmes, and campaigns aimed at preventing cruelty before it happens.
Because the SSPCA receives no government funding, it relies on the support of volunteers and donors to carry out its vital work. Volunteers are welcomed into many different roles - whether working directly with animals, supporting events and fundraising, or helping behind the scenes in community outreach and education.
By volunteering with the SSPCA, you become part of a passionate community focused on making Scotland the best place for animals to live, flourish and be treated with dignity
Volunteering is a rewarding way to support animal welfare and our work in Scotland and we have a range of activities you could get involved in. Some are obviously working with the animals in our care, but we also need support in a whole variety of different areas that you may not expect.

This role is deigned to be completely flexible - fit it in around your busy life to suit you! You can choose to simply share our news and campaigns with a monthly online task, or if you feel like getting a bit more involved now and again, we will keep you up-to-date with events and other initiatives in your area.

Could you give up a small amount of your time to raise awareness of our work in your local community or to help us raise vital funds for Scotland's animals? There are a variety of different tasks to choose from and you can tailor your volunteering role around your current commitments, undertaking only the tasks that interest you.
