Silver City Surfers is a small local charity which aims to help everyone within the City of Aberdeen and the North East of Scotland with modern technology. We provide free tutoring and support on all forms of modern technology (e.g. laptops, iPads & other tablets, smartphones, digital cameras, etc) through mentoring and one-to-one support sessions provided by experienced volunteers.
With more and more businesses and organisations going completely digital, the need for a safe, welcoming space to learn digital skills is needed more than ever and we are here for the people who need us most.
All our sessions are drop in, so no need to book or contact us prior to visiting. Learners can attend as many or as few sessions as they wish. All our sessions are free. We cater for everyone at all levels, from those who are unsure how to switch on a computer to tech savvy grandparents who just want to add to their skills.
If you don’t have your own device, we sometimes have a one that you can try out. However it’s far better if you can bring along the device that you want to talk to us about.
As a Volunteer Digital Tutor, you don't need to be an IT expert. Our volunteers provide one-to-one support in a relaxed, welcoming environment. The most important qualities are patience, good listening skills, and a willingness to help others learn at their own pace.
