About this opportunity

Are you confident using a laptop and familiar with Microsoft programs like PowerPoint?

If so, you could play a vital role in Musical Memories—a joyful singing group for people living with dementia, along with their partners, families, and friends.

We’re looking for someone to help run the technical side of our sessions, such as displaying lyrics, playing music tracks, or managing simple presentations.

Led by a dedicated team of volunteers, these sessions promote wellbeing, spark memories, and encourage connection through music. Your tech skills could help make the magic happen! Run by a passionate team of volunteers, these sessions use the power of music to spark joy, boost brain activity, and encourage creativity and connection. You will help bring smiles and meaningful moments to others.

Previously held at the Alzheimer Scotland Dementia Resource Centre, this event now takes place every second Friday, 1.30pm-3.00pm at the Cowdray Hall (in/next to Aberdeen Art Gallery), Schoolhill, Aberdeen, AB10 1JQ, supporting larger audiences and growing community engagement.

This role involves:

-Creating and presenting simple PowerPoint slides with song lyrics.
-Researching and preparing themed lyric presentations.
-Collaborating with the team to choose themes and track lists for our events.
-You’ll have access to past sessions, which can be reused or adapted for future presentations. All equipment and technical support are provided.
-Relevant guidance and excellent support is provided to all volunteers. We will provide training on Being Dementia Friendly and an induction to Aberdeen Archives Galleries and Museums volunteering programme is also provided.

A fantastic, enjoyable opportunity to help and make a real difference. All assistance is greatly appreciated.
